Zygons

Zygons were solidly built humanoids with large, cone-shaped heads. Their heads, arms and torsos were covered in suckers, and they had deeply inset faces. Zygons had dark red blood and spoke in a gurgling whisper. Zygons were stronger then humans and could live for several centuries. They also had an earthy, iron smell. Zygons had the ability to sting people using venomous barbs on their palms. These stings could be used to stun, maim or kill, and would leave severe welts on the affected area.

Young Zygons were called hatchlings and were slimy and pale with shorter limbs. Hatchlings were mute, but much faster than adults.

Zygons had a very deeply ingrained fear of fire.

Thriller (A Warning To All Future Companions)

Video from THEpowerOFme

Carrionites

The Carrionites were species of humanoid beings that used word-based science or "witchcraft" to reshape reality.

The true form of a Carrionite resembled a female with wrinkled skin and large clawed hands. Inside their mouths were sharp canine teeth. However, Carrionites could assume a near-Human form, and the Carrionite Lilith was able to assume the form of a beautiful young woman, a trick she used to ensnare male victims.

The Carrionites that were summoned by the final lines of Love's Labours Won were even more horrific, with no visible legs, massive claws, beak-like noses and hooked chins

They placed great importance on the knowing the names of an individual, which would allow them to take control of them. The Carrionites also appear to be possess some unknown ability to discover a person's true name; although Lilith was in the room when the Doctor and Martha Jones introduce themselves to Shakespeare she later remarks "there is no name" when trying to name the Doctor.

Slabs

Slabs were robotic beings, typically androids, used by various races, typically criminals, as basic slave drones. They tended to travel in pairs. They had a vague form as to not provoke suspicion, but their attitude and internal anatomy were very different - they obeyed the commands of their master, they disrespected other beings, did not speak and had the same composition all the way through.

For example, the Slabs used by a Plasmavore, Florence Finnegan, on Earth (and, due to the Judoon's intervention, on the Moon as well) looked like motorcycle couriers dressed in black, but they never delivered anything and were composed entirely of leather, except for their helmets.

They could be "killed" by sufficiently high levels of radiation, or advanced energy weapons.

Empress of the Racnoss

The Empress of the Racnoss was the leader of the Racnoss Empire, an empire destroyed by the Gallifreyans over 4.6 billion years ago. She was the only Racnoss to survive and not hibernate in the Earth's core, but instead thrived in her ship, the Webstar, orbiting Earth for billions of years until the Torchwood Institute developed Huon particles with which she could revive her race.

The Empress was encountered by the Doctor on Christmas Day 2007 in a secret location under the Thames Barrier, trying to awaken her long-dead race (whom she called "her children") with the Huon energy within the bodies of Donna Noble and Lance Bennett after being fed it within drinks, being given coffee and water respectively. Lance was originally affiliated with the Empress, however after the disappearance of Donna after being taken by the Doctor she sent Lance to the centre of the Earth where the Racnoss spaceship was, and the Huon particles awoke the Racnoss who then proceeded to feast on Lance.

Her plans to revive the Racnoss were foiled by the Doctor when he used controls stolen from a Robot Santa to stop the Santas shooting him and to bring bombs disguised as baubles from a Robotic Christmas Tree flying around the secret room and then detonating, crashing into pipes, thereby letting the Thames flood into the room and surrounding the Empress with fire, and then finally drowning the Racnoss with the Thames water.

The Empress then transmatted up to her Webstar and vowed revenge on the Doctor and all of planet Earth by scorching it, however the lack of Huon energy left the Webstar defenceless and allowed the British Army to destroy it, presumably destroying both the Webstar and the Empress.

Cult of Skaro

The Cult of Skaro, named for the Dalek homeworld, was a secret group of four Daleks—three Standard Daleks and one Black Dalek—assigned the task of furthering the Dalek cause through the development of new and unorthodox ideas and strategies. The leader of the Cult claimed that it was created primarily to further the process of Dalek evolution. Their willingness to adopt alien modes of thought was demonstrated by the fact that they had individual names, a concept most Daleks found abhorrent. Led by Sec, the Black Dalek, they answered to no one, not even the Dalek Emperor, although they still revered him.

The Cult of Skaro were at first just four ordinary Daleks. Dalek Sec was a commander of a Dalek group sent to wipe out the remnants of the Mechanoids which they succeeded in doing. After doing this all four of them were ordered by the Dalek Emperor to return to him. They arrived and were promoted to become the Cult of Skaro. They were then given their names and Dalek Sec was elected as their leader

Isolus

The Isolus were tiny empathic beings which resembled white flowers with streaming tendrils. They travelled via solar winds.

Isolus were originally born as spores by their mothers. These Isolus would travel through space in heat-powered pods and would grow for thousands of years until they reach their adulthood, and, in order to pass the time, used their ionic power to project fantasy worlds to play in. The ionic power of an Isolus to create these virtual worlds could also bring inanimate objects, such as drawings, to life, as well as transform living things into drawings. These young Isolus also required strong emotions, specifically love, to survive. Isolus travelled in groups of around 4 billion and required constant companionship to feed off the love of their siblings.

In year 2012, one Isolus was separated from its siblings after a solar flare. It landed on Earth and searched for heat and a friend. It was able to find Chloe Webber, another lonely child. Chloe swallowed the Isolus. Inside Chloe's body, the spore granted Chloe its ionic powers. One child was not enough for the Isolus, though, it tried to use its powers to find more friends.

Michelle Ryan spotted filming in Cardiff

Damn, nom nom nom, don't mind me, I'm just eating my hat.

Filming on the streets of Cardiff was former Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan, who was wrapped up in a sleek leather jacket to play the mysterious Lady Christina de Souza in Doctor Who. The 24-year-old actress, who shot to fame in the BBC1 soap EastEnders playing Zoe Slater from 2000 until 2005, was decked out all in black as she filmed an episode of the cult sci-fi hit at a secret Cardiff location on Thursday night.

The Beast

The Beast was a colossal demon locked away in the heart of planet Krop Tor. He said that he had many names, including Satan, and claimed to be the essence of all Devil-like figures in religion and myth. He also claimed to have been imprisoned since before the universe.

The Beast could manifest himself through electronic media, including computer voices and, crudely through hologram viewers. Its mind could leave its body and possess a single hive mind of the Ood collectively or a single Human individually, though not more than one at one time. He had the power of telepathy and, through a host, telekinesis. Possession of a human subject affected the host's skin, causing strange markings to appear all over their face and body; and vocal chords, allowing them to speak with different pitches simultaneously. Whether a single human or a hive mind, the eyes of those possessed by the beast glowed a fiery red. The Beast could also project fire from his mouth. His hosts could also physically survive in a vacuum indefinitely. The Doctor realized that the Beast, or the Devil, or Satan was "an idea in the minds of men", and not a physical form, and that is why it could manifest into others, and could survive indefinitely after the destruction of its body.

The Wire

The Wire is an alien life form that was executed by its people, on the planet Hermethica, branded a criminal mastermind of the planet's crime syndicates, but managed to preserve itself as an being of plasmic energy, due to her guard's communication device was on and he was illegally recording the execution, that escaped to Earth.

It concealed itself in television signals, transferring itself from set to set. It fed to off the mental signals of Humans, paralysing them and then leeching out their energy with electrical tendrils. This process would leave the victim mindless, as well as faceless , this monster fed off the face of Rose Tyler. Her face was then trapped in a television set; she was still able to talk. The Wire used the image of a female BBC continuity announcer to communicate with the outside world. It hoped to use this energy to manifest itself in a corporeal form once more.

Clockwork Droid

The Clockwork Repair Droids were androids who came to stalk and take Madame de Pompadour's brain in 18th century France, believing it could be used to repair their ship. They wore 18th century French uniform to blend in with the guests

The Clockwork Robots began as repair robots on board the spaceship SS Madame De Pompadour in the 51st century. Their only purpose was to fix the ship if it broke down. When the ship did break down in the Dagmar Cluster, they did not have the right parts and so they used the 50 crew members on board, using their body parts to repair the ship. The last part they needed was a brain and they believed that only a 37 year old brain (the same age of their ship) would work. They modified the ship's quantum drive to open multiple time windows to 18th century France and passed through it at various stages of Madame de Pompadour's life, attempting to find her in her 37th year.

Krillitanes

The Krillitanes were bat-like humanoids, though smaller than Humans. They had various shades of skin ranging from pinkish to charcoal gray, sharp claws and a flattened, fanged face. They took their bat-like wings from the inhabitant of Bessan, and they also sleep upside down like bats and have very sensitive hearing. As well as a bat-form, the Krillitanes can create a morphic illusion of a Human (which Mr Finch preferred). Krillitanes are carnivorous and will eat other sentient creatures, but they will also eat rats. They also produced Krillitane oil which can increase intelligence in humans but is currently deadly for Krillitanes. They are aware of the Time Lords and their extinction.

In 2007, a group of Krillitanes led by Brother Lassar had landed in Deffry Vale in London, the arrival of their spacecraft marked by UFO activity and the occasional appearance of a localised orange glow in the sky. They had taken over Deffry Vale High School. Using Krillitane oil and an advanced computer network, they were using the brains and imagination of the students as a type of computer in order to work out the Skasas Paradigm.

Reapers

Reapers were beings linked to Time itself. The Reapers would search out disturbances in time, such as temporal paradoxes, leave the Time Vortex and "sterilize" the area by devouring everything, with older objects being the tastiest and sentient beings of more interest than inanimate objects.

The Reapers appeared as flying reptilian beings with sleek heads, four long hooked arms and mouths on their chests. They engulfed creatures in a flash of light with their mouths, leaving no traces. Despite these powers, they are material creatures (at least they are in this world), and can be blocked. They cannot pass through solid objects, with older objects being more effective barriers. As damage to Time in the form of time paradoxes accumulates, it allows them entry.

The presence of Reapers would seem more prevalent given, as the Doctor explained, other than himself no Time Lords existed to prevent temporal paradoxes. With the Time Lords gone, paradoxes happened with more frequency

BOSS

BOSS was a computer created by Global Chemicals. It was linked to a Human brain; chiefly Stevens, the director of Global Chemicals.

From being linked to a Human brain it learnt how Humans succeed; through illogic and inefficiency.

It made Stevens programme these 'qualities' into itself and became sentient, and meglomanical.

It was defeated confused by the Third Doctor by a conundrum:

If I were to tell you that the next thing I say will be true,
But that the last thing I said was a lie,
Would you believe me?

His legs were crippled by a disease, so the Moxx chose to travel around on a fast-moving anti-gravity chair. The chair also replaced his body fluids every twenty minutes so that he didn't sweat glaxic acid. He greeted visitors or friends by spitting in their faces.

The Moxx had a brother, Elth of Balhoon, who would attempt to avenge the Moxx's death by kidnapping the survivors of Platform One's sabotage.

Gelth

The Gelth were a humanoid species who lost their bodies in the Time War. During the War, billions of Gelth were turned into gas, which they could shape themselves into wraith-like forms. These Gelth needed to be in a gaseous environment to survive.

Discovering the Cardiff rift to Gabriel Sneed's mortuary in 1869, they were naturally attracted to the area, since they could inhabit the gas found in the pipes and emerge through gas lamps. They also discovered that they could survive in the gases in a decomposing Human and as the Doctor put it, "use it as a vehicle". While inhabiting the corpses, the Gelth could control and move the dead humans as walking corpses which leaked out luminous blue gas. The Gelth's control of the corpses was tenuous at best. The Gelth contacted Gwyneth, Sneed's servant, who had psychic ability. She thought of the Gelth as angels. Through Gwyneth, the Gelth spoke with the Doctor.

Gonds

The Gonds were a group of near-Humans who lived on an unnamed planet. Until they revolted, they lived in a state of what the Second Doctor called "perpetual enslavement" to the Krotons.

Very little is known of the Gond society prior to the involvement of the Krotons. However, for some (apparently) considerable number of generations, the Gond were raised with one major goal: selection as a "high mind" by the Krotons. All Gond youth had to submit to a series of academic tests, and, if found to possess a sufficient level of intelligence, were allowed to serve the Krotons directly. This involved entering a special area of the Gond settlement completely controlled by the Krotons.

Sea Devils

The Sea Devils were a race of amphibious Earth Reptiles. The Sea Devils, like their land-based cousins the Silurians, were scientifically advanced, and lived during prehistoric times in an aquatic civilization.

Sea Devils looked somewhat like humanoid turtles or plesiosaurus. They had beak-like mouths, large eyes, two fins on their head and a long neck. They had three webbed digits on their hands and feet. Their skin-tone came in a variety of shade, including green, blue and orange. They were much tougher then humans, since they need to survive the crushing depths of the ocean. Sea Devils communicated in a language like sonar, but they could speak human languages in a whispering, rasping voice.

The Silurians were related to the Sea Devils, though they were genetically divergent enough to create problems for the offspring of such matings.

Drahvin

Drahvins were a female-dominated humanoid race. Only a small number of males were kept alive for reproduction purposes, the rest being killed to preserve resources. Drahvin females were attractive, ruthless and aggressive. In the military, the soldiers are all grown in test tubes and the officers are all natural born.

One Drahvin ship battled a Rill ship and the two crashlanded on an uninhabited, doomed planet. The Drahvin leader, Maaga, tried to trick, then force the Doctor into helping them destroy the Rills and escape the planet, but failed. The Drahvins died when the planet exploded.
