DAVID Tennant could be set to smash America after being cast in the lead role for a new US TV comedy drama.
And industry experts in the States are already tipping him to follow in Hugh Laurie's footsteps and become a major TV star in America.
The Bathgate-born Doctor Who star - who hands over the keys to the TARDIS to successor Matt Smith in the New Year - has picked up the lead in the pilot of Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, which is being made for NBC.
Tennant, 37, will star as a top Chicago lawyer who begins to suffer from panic attacks - and begins coaching clients to represent themselves in court instead.
The show had been languishing in development hell for nearly two years before Tennant's surprise casting. via
