Michael Sheen is set to voice a character on Doctor Who


Responding to rumours of Sheen’s involvement in the new series during a visit to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Gaiman declared: ‘It’s true.'
At present all is known is that Sheen will voice a character in an upcoming episode written by Gaiman. The episode, which is rumoured to be set in a 'junk yard alien planet', will be the fourth in the new series which premieres on BBC1 on April 23.
Former Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones is also set to star in the episode, playing a mysterious character from the Doctor’s past.

Douglas Adams's Doctor Who story to be novelised


A novelisation of the "lost" Doctor Who serial Shada, scripted by Hitchhiker's Guide author Douglas Adams in 1979, will be published next year. Adams wrote three series of Doctor Who in the late 1970s, when he was in his twenties and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was first airing as a BBC radio comedy. Shada was intended as a six-part drama to finish off the 17th season, with Tom Baker in the role of the Doctor.

Mara Tales Classic Doctor Who DVD Out Now

James Corden returning to Doctor Who in new series


James Corden is set to play a part in episode 12 of the upcoming series of the Beeb's sci-fi hit, although further details have yet to be released. Corden played Craig Owens in the 2010 run for an episode entitled The Lodger and could reprise the same role. According to whatsontv.co.uk, filming may begin as soon as next week, with Corden known to be a fan of the show. He told the site last year that he would 'love' to see his character brought back, saying he was 'very honoured to have been involved in Doctor Who' and keen to see the Tardis first-hand.

Matt Smith reveals there will be two Amy Ponds in Doctor Who Comic Relief special


Matt Smith has revealed some details of the upcoming Doctor Who Comic Relief special. The actor will appear in two four minute episodes for the charity event, alongside Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams).
“It’s great,” Smith told TV & Satellite Week. “The set-up is that the three of us are all in the Tardis together, and the Tardis materialises within itself and there are two Amy Ponds. It’s a real jaunt and a bit of fun.”
