Steven Moffat teases new 'Doctor Who' companion

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has teased the character of the show’s new companion. The next series of the show will see Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill depart the show as Amy and Rory Pond, to be replaced at Christmas by newcomer Jenna-Louise Coleman in an unconfirmed role.And now, speaking in Doctor Who Magazine, Moffat has said that while the new character will "shock", there will be familiar elements. He said: "I'll answer you in the show about how it’s going to be different. But because it is going to be different. It's going to be a shock, I think. Time Travel Weekend

Time Travel Weekend focussing on television programmes and films in which time travel has featured. In addition to the Tardis & The Delorean time machines there will be opportunities to see props including Davros, K-9, Daleks, The Impossible Astronaut and a Cyberman from Dr Who, as well as meet and greet costume characters including Ood, Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Scarecrow from Dr Who, Star Trek Crew, Klingon, Aliens, Gas Mask Zombies, Spacemen and Cybermen! Police boxes are put up for sale

Doctor Who fans will have a chance to buy their very own Tardis as a police force sells off 22 of its police boxes. Lothian and Borders Police said the cast iron structures are now deemed "surplus to operational requirements". There is no set price for the boxes, which are located around Edinburgh. However, the police do not own the sites on which the boxes are located, so buyers will either have to move the two tonne structures or obtain all the relevant council documentation to keep them where they are. Sara Griffiths, Lothian and Borders Police Property Manager, said: "When these boxes were introduced they would have proved invaluable to officers, but as technology and policing methods evolved a number of them have now become obsolete. "This is a great opportunity for collectors to snap up a unique piece of Edinburgh, and policing, history." The money made from the sale will go to towards the Force Capital Investment Programme. In recent decades new technology has rendered police boxes redundant and many have found a new lease of life as coffee shops. The police boxes were specifically designed to complement the classical architecture of Edinburgh by the then City Architect, Ebenezer MacRae, between 1931 and 1933.
