Jodie Whittaker says: “I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey -
with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It’s more than an
honour to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be,
while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for:
hope. I can’t wait.”
Chris Chibnall, New Head Writer and Executive Producer says :
“After months of lists, conversations, auditions, recalls, and a lot of secret-keeping, we’re excited to welcome Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.
I always knew I wanted the Thirteenth Doctor to be a woman and we're thrilled to have secured our number one choice. Her audition for The Doctor simply blew us all away. Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The Thirteenth Doctor is on her way.”
Peter Capaldi says : “Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker’s work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm. She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She’s going to be a fantastic Doctor.”
Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content says :
“Making history is what Doctor Who is all about and Chris Chibnall’s bold new take on the next Time Lord is exactly that. The nation is going to fall in love with Jodie Whittaker - and have lots of fun too!”
Piers Wenger, Controller BBC Drama says : "Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor. She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role. She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor."
Matt Strevens, Executive Producer says : "I'm so thrilled that Jodie Whittaker said yes to playing the Doctor. I've been a fan for years and always hoped to work with her. She is an actor of great emotional range and inhabits every role with complete passion and conviction. Just thinking about what she will bring to the Doctor makes me as excited as a kid at Christmas. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Doctor Who Christmas special: David Bradley admits he's nervous for 'emotional' episode
PETER CAPALDI is bowing out of Doctor Who in this year's Christmas special and one actor has admitted that they are nervous about taking on the famous Time Lord role.
However, there will be a total of three Doctors in the festive episode.
David Bradley is adopting the part of the First Doctor, originally played by William Hartnell, and is anxious about the responsibility the role brings.
“I never thought for a moment that I’d be asked to do an episode as the Doctor, let alone the big Christmas one,” the 75-year-old actor confessed in an interview with TV Times.
David first starred as actor William Hartnell in the BBC drama An Adventure in Space and Time back in 2013.
“Before
I felt a responsibility to get it right for William and his family, but
now I feel like I need to get it right for the fans,” he continued.
This year’s Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time, will see the First Doctor come face to face with the 13th incarnation.
The
two meet in the South Pole and are joined by former Tardis companion
Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and the Captain (Mark Gatiss), a WWI soldier.
When a glass lady appears with a warning from the past, the group embark on an exciting adventure.
David revealed emotions were high as Peter filmed his final scenes.
“At one point Peter and I looked at each other and I wondered who was going to well up first!” he divulged.
“Peter has been a wonderful Doctor and it was an honour to be a part of his final appearance.”
The eleventh season is expected to return with Jodie, 35, as the thirteenth Doctor in Autumn 2018.
New Cast Of Doctor Who
When Jodie Whittaker takes over as the
Thirteenth Doctor on the global hit show next year, she will be joined
by an all new regular cast.
BBC announces today (October 10, 2017) that Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill will line-up as the new regular cast on Doctor Who.
Bradley will star as Graham, Tosin will play Ryan and Mandip will play Yasmin.
Also joining the series in a returning role is Sharon D Clarke.
New head writer and executive producer Chris Chibnall, who made the decision to cast the first ever woman in the iconic role, is also shaking up who will travel with the Doctor in the TARDIS, with a team of new characters.
In more exclusive news, it is confirmed that the new series will be a ten week run of fifty minute episodes in Autumn 2018, kicking off with a feature length hour for the opening launch.
Chris Chibnall says : “The new Doctor is going to need new friends. We’re thrilled to welcome Mandip, Tosin and Bradley to the Doctor Who family. They’re three of Britain’s brightest talents and we can’t wait to see them dive into brand new adventures with Jodie’s Doctor. Alongside them, we’re delighted that Sharon D Clarke is also joining the show."
Jodie Whittaker says : "I am so excited to share this huge adventure with Mandip, Tosin and Bradley. It's a dream team!"
Bradley Walsh says : “I remember watching William Hartnell as the first Doctor. Black and white made it very scary for a youngster like myself. I was petrified but even though I’d watch most of it from behind the sofa through my fingers, I became a fan. I then queued up for ages to get into the Carlton picture house in Watford to watch the great Peter Cushing appear as the Doctor in a full length feature film made in glorious colour. Am I thrilled to be part of this whole ground breaking new dawn for the Doctor?? Oh yes!”
Mandip Gill says : “I am over the moon to be joining the Doctor Who family. This is an iconic show with an amazing fanbase and I look forward to everything that brings. Certain roles seem unattainable and this is one of those, so much so I didn't believe it to be true for the first few weeks. To be working alongside the likes of Jodie, Bradley and my old friend Tosin is thrilling. This show is worlds away from the work I've done previously and that's the part that excites me the most.”
Tosin Cole says : "I'm grateful and excited to be a part of this journey with the team. I'm looking forward to jumping in this Doctor Who universe."
Matt Strevens, Executive Producer, BBC Studios says : “I am thrilled to welcome Bradley, Mandip and Tosin to the new Who family. Working with three such talented actors is going to be a lot of fun. The Doctor is in fine company.”
Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama says : "The casting of Mandip, Tosin and Bradley is a mark of the new creative ambition Chris is bringing to Doctor Who. He's already made history with the casting of Jodie. These three new characters complete a new and utterly unmissable team aboard the Tardis."
Doctor Who is a BBC Studios production for BBC One and a BBC AMERICA co-production. BBC Worldwide are the international distributors for Doctor Who.

Peter Capaldi did a very sweet thing for a young fan while filming the Doctor Who Christmas special
“There was one young lad, who’s been fostered by friends of ours,” David
Bradley, who plays the First Doctor in the festive episode, told RadioTimes.com of one special set visit.
“And he was so excited, so excited. Peter came over into the
hospitality tent where all the cameras were, and said, ‘Where’s this
friend….where’s Chris?’ And I said, ‘There he is.’
“And then Peter spent about 15 minutes drawing a Dalek with hobnailed boots and a bowler hat,” Bradley said. “Really funny detail – he went to art school, did Peter, before he became an actor.
“He could have easily done a quick sketch or a quick autograph,” Bradley went on.
“He was preparing for the next scene, we were both trying to learn our lines as each scene came up, because we had to work quite quickly. We didn’t get the scripts until just a few days before we started filming, so there wasn’t much downtime.
“But Peter, bless him, he took the time to draw this very complicated sketch for this young boy, and he absolutely loved it.
“Oh, the kids that we brought are still talking about it,” he concluded. “And they can’t wait ’til Christmas!”
Good to know that even in his last days, the Twelfth Doctor is still being a hero to kids everywhere.
