Pupils say ta-tardis to school


DALEKS and cybermen were among the characters who turned up to an out-of-this-world school-leavers ceremony.Dene House Primary School, in Peterlee, held the intergalatic event to mark the progression of Year 6 pupils to secondary school.The majority of the youngsters will be moving to Dene Community School of Technology, where their Doctor Who-themed leaving concert was held.The 48 children took part in the Doctor Who event as the TV show’s time-travelling aspect mirrors the significance of looking back over the youngsters’ past and forward to their future

Cybermen Photos, 1966 - Present

They made their first appearance in the series in 1966's The Tenth Planet - the last episode to feature William Hartnell.


The Doctor next encountered the malevolent metallic menace in The Moonbase, a four-part adventure broadcast in 1967.


The Doctor met them again that year when he travelled to the planet Telos, setting for The Tomb of the Cybermen.


Doctor Who companion Zoe Heriot (Wendy Padbury) got a nasty shock from a Cyberman in 1968's The Wheel in Space.


St Paul's Cathedral in London provided a vivid backdrop to a Cybermen attack in 1968 adventure The Invasion.


The evil cyborgs returned in 1975's Revenge of the Cybermen - partly shot in Wookey Hole Caves, Somerset.


The Cybermen's reappearance in 1982's Earthshock led to the death of the Doctor's assistant Adric (Matthew Waterhouse)


A Cyberman met an explosive end in The Five Doctors, produced to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary in 1983.


The Cybermen have been extensively redesigned for their latest adventure.
