Chameleons

The Chameleons were an advanced humanoid race. An explosion on their home planet resulted in the loss of their faces and their identities. To save their race from dying out, their scientists developed a process that would allow them to assume the identities of other beings. They went to Earth and established Chameleon Tours at Gatwick Airport as a front for abducting young Humans to their space station. By July 1966 they had acquired 50,000 people, but before they could return to their world they were exposed by the Doctor, who offers to help them find another solution to their problem in exchange for releasing the humans.

Salamander

Ramón Salamander (more usually known simply as Salamander) attempted to take over the planet Earth in the 21st century.

Salamander came from Merida in the Yucatan in Mexico. Both a respected politician and a scientist, Salamander received worldwide acclaim for his invention of Sun Store technology to beam sunlight from Earth orbit in order to help the growth of crops and alleviate global hunger on an overpopulated planet. Secretly, he also committed murders of officials in order to ensure his goal of world domination so he could replace them with other officials that Salamander could trust. With a team of scientists, who he had tricked into working for him, he created "natural" disasters such as volcanos and earthquakes happen at will.

From his palace in the Central European Zone, Salamander attempted the domination of the planet Earth. (During this time, instead of nations, the planet had divided itself into a number of Zones.) Salamander bore an almost exact resemblance to the Doctor, enabling him to impersonate him so as to ensure his downfall.

After he invaded the TARDIS disguised as the Doctor, the real Doctor expelled him into the Time Vortex. Nevertheless, Salamander still survived, helpless in the Vortex.

The Krotons

On an unnamed planet, a race called the Gonds are subject to the mysterious Krotons, unseen beings to whom they provide their brightest intelligences as “companions”. Thara, son of the Gond leader Selris, is the only one of his race to object to this practice. The Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe arrive in time to witness the death of one of the chosen companions and intervene to save Vana, the other selected for this fate, using her survival as a means to convince Selris and the Gonds of the malign influence of the Krotons on their society. The Doctor calls it "self-perpetuating slavery” by which the brightest in Gond society have been removed. Similarly, there are large gaps in their knowledge, especially relating to chemistry. This situation has been in existence for many years since the Krotons arrived in their spaceship, polluting the lands beyond the Gond city and killing much of the Gond population.

The Quarks and The Dominators

The Quarks were used on Dulkis by the Dominators to enslave and terrorise the indigenous Dulcian population to ensure the drilling of bore holes through the planet's crust. The Dominators planned to use their technology to fire seeds down the holes which would force the core to erupt, thus providing a new fuel source for their fleet.

The Quarks were rectangular in shape, with four arms: one pair which folded into the body, the other pair being retractable. On the end of each arm was a solitary claw. The legs extended out below the Quark body. The spherical head was visibly divided into octants; the upper four octants formed the sensory hemisphere, which detected changes in light, heat and motion. At five of the corners of the octants were directional crystal beam transmitters (the sixth corner joined with the robot's extremely short neck). Quarks communicated by means of high-pitched sound waves. Their major weakness was a tendency to run out of energy rather quickly.
